For the majority of the two years I spent living in New York City (Flushing, to be honest), Monday night's meant racing from work in Queens, to the Lower East Side, to a performance space called the Bowery Poetry Club. Starting at 11pm and going on until the bartenders kicked everyone out was the NYC Talent Show; an open mic that guaranteed each act 6 minutes of stage time to do quite literally anything they want. Most of the acts were either music, comedy, or spoken word, and nudity was always encouraged. It was by far my favorite thing to experience and I'm glad I got to be a part of it while it existed.
